Australia’s Favourite Home people’s choice Australia’s Favourite Homes competition is providing additional exposure to the wider market for HIA members. Housing takes a look. H awards IA has teamed up with Australia’s largest real estate website, www.realestate.com.au, to launch the inaugural Australia’s Favourite Homes contest.As the first people’s choice awards of their kind theAustralia’s Favourite Homes Awards program aims to champion the hard work and success of those working in the building industry. It is also providing additional exposure to the wider market for those HIA members who are HIA HousingAward winners. Australia’s Favourite Homes contest offered theAustralian public the chance to judge their favourite project from finalists in the following five categories from the HIAAustralian Housing Awards: • Detached new homes • Apartments and townhouses • Renovations • Outdoor projects • Kitchens. TheAustralia’s Favourite Homes Awards website provides builders with an opportunity to showcase the latest trends in new homes. It also remains a forum for consumers to peruse from the extensive video gallery, showcasing inspirational ideas for when they decide to build or renovate.A 30-second video of each project entered was professionally shot and edited specifically for the website. Australia’s Favourite Homes was launched on 4May and ran until 31May 2009 and the overall winner from each category announced on 15 June 2009. The competition is supported by Stegbar with vouchers of $10,000 each for five lucky readers who voted in the competition. Bruce Tosello, Stegbar’s national marketing manager, saysAustralia’s Favourite Homes competition has been an opportunity for the general public to be inspired byAustralia’s best awardwinning designs and renovations. ‘Australians love their homes and HIA has long been the leading advocate for the best home builders across the country with their awards every year. ‘We’re looking forward to working with the five winners of the $10,000 Stegbar vouchers and helping them recreate their favourite designs in their own home,’ he says. ‘Our display centres can cater to the needs [of anyone interested in home design] and help create their favourite design. The website also provides the opportunity to obtain lots of information, view images of finished homes and use the design tools to help them decide on the best product for their homes.’ Supported in print through News Ltd’s 115 community papers around the country, the competition has had considerable exposure on News Ltd’s website Where I Live. The competition has also been promoted on realestate.com.au, one of Australia’s most heavily visited websites, on hia.com.au and on stegbar.com.au. It is expected that more than six million Australians were exposed to the contest over the four-week period. realestate.com.au is Australia’s biggest address in property.
